'GMA' Host Suddenly Quits
DeMarco Morgan, the newly former co-host of "GMA3: What You Need to Know," didn't get a send-off. He didn't get a final show. He didn't even get a goodbye.
Sources say this isn't a coincidence. It's a reckoning — the latest twist in the cursed third hour of "Good Morning America," where a toxic reputation and crumbling ratings have made it the most unstable time slot on network television.
Eva Got a New Gig. DeMarco Got a Memo.
Eva Pilgrim made the first move and it was official by Monday morning — she's reportedly replacing Deborah Norville at Inside Edition, joining CBS in the fall as the fourth host in the show's history. "Anchoring 'Inside Edition' is truly a dream job," Pilgrim said in a release, reported by the New York Post. "It's truly an honor to join a show with such a long, rich history."
DeMarco Morgan, meanwhile, didn't wait around to be replaced. By the time Pilgrim's announcement hit the wires, ABC released a short statement saying Morgan had "decided to begin a new journey," according to the Daily Mail. No further details were provided.
He hadn't appeared on air since June 13, 2025, and he apparently never anchored from the show's flashy new Hudson Yards studio in Manhattan, according to the Daily Mail. His sudden absence became just another mystery in a show that's been spiraling since its most scandalous chapter.
The Curse of TJ and Amy
Let's not forget: GMA3's current chaos was born from scandal.
It was Morgan and Pilgrim who stepped into the roles vacated by former co-hosts TJ Holmes and Amy Robach — the pair ousted after their highly publicized extramarital affair exploded into tabloid fodder. ABC needed stability. What it got instead was a pair of credible journalists handed a sinking ship.
And they weren't exactly supported. According to one insider, big-name "GMA" anchors like Robin Roberts, Michael Strahan, and George Stephanopoulos all turned down chances to rescue the show.
"After TJ and Amy, it's a toxic hour they want no part of," the source told the Daily Mail. "They are going to want a lot more money to do any extra work."
Ratings Flatline and Instagram Doesn't Help
If ABC was hoping for a turnaround — it didn't get one.
Even after moving production to its glossy new headquarters in Hudson Yards, "GMA3" reportedly remained stalled in the ratings. Morgan tried to raise the show's visibility — including a now-infamous Instagram moment wearing tight biker shorts that had social media buzzing. But the buzz didn't move the needle.
The show has reportedly averaged just 1.35 million viewers this year — well below the 1.7 million it pulled under Holmes and Robach. And despite beating "The Talk" and "NBC News Daily" in some markets, the numbers weren't enough to quiet rumors of the show's demise.
ABC insists "GMA3" isn't going anywhere. But not everyone's convinced.
'You Already Shot Yourselves in the Foot'
Fans didn't hold back online.
"I'm happy Eva quickly landed on her feet at Inside Edition. But, I hate that she and DeMarco were replaced amidst the shakeup at #GMA3," one user posted on X, as reported by The U.S. Sun.
Another viewer put it more bluntly: "Throwing Eva & DeMarco out like so much trash is disrespectful & just plain stupid. You already shot yourselves in the foot firing Amy & TJ."
And what's next? ABC News said "GMA3" will now rely on "a rotating group of anchors," as reported by the New York Post — pulling from the larger "GMA" family. That means Ginger Zee, Rebecca Jarvis, Gio Benitez, and Will Reever will likely continue guest hosting in what increasingly feels like a public audition.
But there's no new official lineup. No clear plan. And — most tellingly — no hosts willing to claim the third hour as their own.
Is 'GMA3' Already Dead?
Back in April 2025, a source told the New York Post, "GMA3 won't be there at the end of the summer," as reported by The U.S. Sun.
That prediction is starting to feel less like gossip — and more like a spoiler.
Morgan's silent disappearance, paired with Pilgrim's clean escape, leaves the third hour rudderless. And with ABC trying to cut costs while protecting its top talent, "GMA3" has gone from the network's "fresh hour of news" to a franchise burden nobody seems eager to save.
So maybe the memo got it right after all.
DeMarco Morgan is beginning a new journey.
The real question? Does "GMA3" have one left.
